Look inside the doorknob hole and locate the latching mechanism.
Garage door handle fell off.
Slide the lock box downward and away from the protruding end of the t handle retaining screw.
Using an awl or small screwdriver push the button in all the way and at the same time pull off the handle.
Slide the lock box off the square shaft protruding through the garage door from the t handle.
The knob on the other side of the door is no longer attached either so it will be loose and eventually will fall off.

Unscrew the two screws if you re on that side of the door using a cross tip screwdriver.
Typically the problem is the result of a missing or loose screw in the house door plate.
Step 3 remove the t handle retaining screws from the outside of the door with a phillips screwdriver.
Loosen and remove the nuts on.

Remove the ends of the stranded cable from each lock mechanism at the outer edges of the garage door.
